Medication Dosage Calculator
Easily determine the right dose of Acetaminophen (Tylenol), Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), or Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) for your child’s weight.
Important Instructions
- Always read and follow the label instructions.
- Whenever possible, use the dosing device that came with the product. Syringes and droppers are more accurate than teaspoons.
- If you use a teaspoon, it should be a measuring spoon. Regular spoons are not reliable.
For infants under 6 pounds, check with your doctor.

Acetaminophen
Tylenol
- Do not give before 2 months of age. Call us immediately if your baby under 2 months old has a fever.
- Repeat dose every 4-6 hours while symptoms last.
- Do not give more than 5 doses in 24 hours.
- Do not use with any other product containing acetaminophen.

Ibuprofen
Advil, Motrin
- Not for use with children under 6 months of age.
- Repeat dose every 6-8 hours as needed.
- Do not give more than 4 doses in 24 hours.

Diphenhydramine
Benadryl
- When recommended by a provider, Benadryl may be used safely in young children.
- Non-sedating alternatives (eg, loratadine, cetirizine, fexofenadine) are available over-the-counter. Please ask a healthcare provider before using these medications in children under 2 years of age.
- Repeat dose every 6 hours as needed.
- Children’s Benadryl Fastmelts: Each fastmelt tablet contains the equivalent of 12.5 mg of Diphenhydramine HCL, dosed the same as chewable tablets.
- Risk of side effects: May cause drowsiness or paradoxical excitation. Use caution when driving or operating heavy machinery after dosing due to potential for sedation and decreased alertness. This is especially relevant for teen drivers.

Telemedicine Visits
We offer telemedicine visits for established patients by appointment only. Telemedicine visits are usually reserved for behavioral, mental health, and ADHD concerns. “Sick” visits are seen via telemedicine on a case by case basis.
Please note that you may be asked to come to the office in person after the televisit if the physician feels that your child needs further evaluation.
At the time of your appointment, please log into the Spruce app and make sure that you are connected to a strong WiFi signal in a private location.
TIPS FOR YOUR TELEMEDICINE VISIT
- Please make sure you download the Spruce app and create an account before your visit.
- You will complete your telemedicine visit through the Spruce app, which you can access on your phone or through your computer’s web browser. If you are using a computer, sign in at www.sprucehealth.com using Google Chrome or Safari as your web browser.
- Your phone’s or computer’s camera and audio must be enabled.
- Good lighting is helpful. Place the light in front of you and your child rather than behind you.
- Please have your child’s recent weight and temperature.
- We may need to review any medications your child is using and verify your preferred pharmacy.
PRIVACY CONSIDERATIONS
Please understand that while this software is HIPAA-compliant, by choosing to do a virtual visit, you are agreeing to electronic communication of your child’s or your health information through audio, video, and/or photo technology. While our software is secure, consider any privacy needs in your space as well.
